Ingredients
Scale
Meatballs
- 24 fully cooked meatballs
Sauce
- 1 can (14 oz) whole berry cranberry sauce
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: If using frozen meatballs, allow them to thaw slightly to ensure even cooking. If using homemade meatballs, make sure they are fully cooked before proceeding.
- Make the Sauce: In a large skillet or saucepan, combine the whole berry cranberry sauce, barbecue sauce, orange juice, and brown sugar. Stir the mixture until smooth and place it over medium heat to warm.
- Coat the Meatballs: Add the fully cooked meatballs into the sauce and gently stir to coat them evenly. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer.
- Simmer and Thicken: Reduce the heat to low and let the meatballs simmer uncovered for about 15 to 20 minutes. Stir occasionally until the sauce thickens and clings to the meatballs.
- Serve: Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Use pre-cooked frozen meatballs for convenience and faster preparation.
- Adjust the sweetness by modifying the brown sugar quantity to your taste preference.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
- These meatballs can be kept warm in a slow cooker on low for parties and gatherings.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or additional chopped green onions for an extra pop of color.
