Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Sauce
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest or 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
Cheese Mixture
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper, a pinch each
- Spoonful of garlic cream sauce (from prepared sauce)
Other Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles, oven-ready or cooked according to package instructions
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prepare Garlic Butter Shrimp: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant to infuse the butter with garlic flavor.
- Cook Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Make Creamy Garlic Sauce: Using the same skillet, add more butter if needed, then sauté additional garlic briefly. Stir in heavy cream and simmer gently, reducing heat. Mix in grated parmesan cheese until melted and combined. Optionally fold in lemon zest or juice for brightness.
- Mix Ricotta Filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with chopped parsley, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a spoonful of the prepared garlic cream sauce to make a flavorful cheese mixture.
- Assemble Lasagna: Spread a layer of the creamy sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Start layering with noodles, followed by ricotta mixture, shrimp, more sauce, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat these layers until ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 10 to 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Rest and Serve: Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 minutes after baking to set before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Oven-ready lasagna noodles save time, but you can use regular noodles boiled according to package instructions.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste during each step for optimal flavor.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but the sauce will be less rich.
- If you prefer, substitute parsley with fresh basil or oregano for a different herb flavor.
- Keep an eye on the lasagna during the uncovered baking stage to prevent burning the cheese topping.
