Description

Delicious Deluxe French Toast Sandwiches made with honey ham, melted mozzarella cheese, and thick slices of French bread or Texas toast, dipped in a vanilla-egg batter and cooked to golden perfection. Served with raspberry or strawberry jam for a sweet and savory breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. thinly sliced Honey Ham
  • 4 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • 8 thick pieces French bread or Texas Toast

Batter

  • 2 Eggs (beaten)
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Serving

  • Raspberry or Strawberry Jam
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat skillet: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and lightly spray with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Assemble sandwiches: Lay 4 pieces of bread out on a flat surface. Top each piece with four slices of honey ham, then place one slice of mozzarella cheese on top. Cover with the remaining 4 pieces of bread to form sandwiches.
  3. Prepare egg batter and dip sandwiches: In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined. Carefully dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, holding it on both sides to keep the filling intact. Repeat the dipping on the other side.
  4. Cook sandwiches: Place one sandwich at a time onto the heated skillet or griddle. Cook each side for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
  5. Serve: Serve warm with raspberry or strawberry jam on the side and optionally sprinkle with powdered sugar. For keeping other sandwiches warm, place them in a preheated 200°F oven.

Notes

  • Use thick bread like Texas toast or French bread for the best texture.
  • Handle sandwiches gently when dipping to prevent fillings from falling out.
  • You can keep cooked sandwiches warm in a 200°F oven while preparing the rest.
  • Optional sprinkle of powdered sugar adds a nice touch of sweetness.
  • Serve with your favorite jam for extra flavor contrast.
