- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup milk
Dry Ingredients & Seasonings
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole evenly.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, diced ham, shredded Swiss cheese, cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended and creamy.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Grease a baking dish lightly to prevent sticking. Then spread the chicken and ham mixture evenly into the dish.
- Add Topping: Sprinkle the cup of breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the casserole mixture to create a crispy crust when baked.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the breadcrumb topping turns golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly for easier portioning.
Notes
- You can substitute the cream of chicken soup with a homemade white sauce for a fresher taste.
- For a lower-fat version, use low-fat milk and reduced-fat cheese.
- Add some Dijon mustard to the mixture for an extra tangy flavor twist.
- Use panko breadcrumbs for an even crunchier topping.
- Ensure chicken and ham are fully cooked beforehand to prevent undercooking.
